Visited the King Fahd Causeway in November 2023 during our journey to Saudi Arabia from Bahrain.

Crossing the border can be challenging due to wait times at immigration and security checkpoints, so consider planning your trip during off-peak hours.

I highly recommend this destination to Bahrain residents. It transcends being just a bridge; it offers a captivating experience. The drive is truly enchanting, especially in the evening or morning with the sun casting golden hues. On clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of buildings on the Saudi side.

Be mindful of recently installed speed cameras that enforce indicated speed limits; drive responsibly.

Spanning 25 kilometers, the King Fahd Causeway connects Khobar, Saudi Arabia, and Al Jasra, Bahrain. Officially inaugurated in November 1986, it comprises three magnificent bridges and an artificial island serving as a border. This US$800 million project features a four-lane road with two roadways.

'Middle Island,' the largest artificial island, is a noteworthy tourist attraction. It showcases a beautiful mosque, a small garden, and fast-food restaurants. The causeway, funded by Saudi Arabia, is operated by the King Fahd Causeway Authority (KFCA). Its strategic and tourist significance is evident, with consistent growth in passenger and cargo movement. On March 4, 2023, over 136,000 passengers traversed the causeway, underscoring its vital role in connecting Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
