Wasaga beach 5
2023 Sep 04
It's busy... if you love a very social experience... you'll like it here... it's the reason I don't.
Wasaga Beach is a busy place. Lots of people , traffic, and urban living set the atmosphere of these series of provincial parks. Absolutely the longest, Sandy beaches... but the most populated as well. There was a lot of debris in the shoreline water, and I couldn't see the bottom or what I was stepping on. The gate staff was helpful and courteous. The washrooms were well maintained and well supplied with tissue, soap, etc. There are picnic tables, but try to get as far away from the garbage bins as possible... there were many wasps around our picnic... we had to relocate to a better area for lunch. Rant on visitors and their trash: Be sure to use the pack in / pack out rule. Whatever you pack into the park, also pack out of the park. There is absolutely no excuse for littering in 2023... you've been educated on the environmental impacts of littering... do your part! We were able to collect a grocery sized bag amount of trash to dispose of from the ground, and that is unacceptable behaviour from park visitors. It's not on the staff. They do their best for the park, visitors must do their best too. End of rant... for now...
If there were proper washrooms, I would be able to give it a higher rating. It has a lovely little playground... but in full sun, the equipment is too hot for delicate young skin. There are well maintained sand pits with shareable sand toys scattered about in the sand. If you are into tennis or badminton... there is a large fenced in tennis court. There is also a short 2 minute trail around the park and a lovely stop for a picnic, with a picnic shelter. The shelter contains an AED. As always, I love to point out little free libraries when I find them, and there is one right at the entrance to the park. Remember, take a book... leave a book! This one is in need of fresh donations.
This is a beautiful area on Kettle Lake! Bring your hiking shoes and bug spray!

The water is murky red and hard to see in. Lots of mosquitos this time of year but lovely area with a dense quiet forest on a beautiful lake.
